Tuesday 29 August 1995 - Respectable Street, Miami Beach, Florida

Comments: Advertising appeared for this show but was subsequently 'pulled' - 'Respectable Street south continues to live up to opening hype by booking national acts that ordinarily wouldn't see the light of day in Miami Beach. Tuesday night is a blast from the past act as Dave Vanian - formerly of punk legend the Damned - unearths his new band the Phantom Chords. Opening for Vanian is Black Angels Death Song. Halloween comes early this year to 218 Espanola Way for only $7.

Tuesday 16 May 1995 - Moles Club, Bath

Comments: A show intended for Moles in Bath is known to have been cancelled. Due to upheavals in personnel of The Phantom Chords by May 1995, it seems likely that this was the cancelled Moles show (but this remains unconfirmed for the moment... The Phantom Chords have been scheduled to play this venue on other occasions).

Comments: On the sourced tape of this show, Dave Vanian can clearly be heard saying that the band will return after going to the dressing room - so it is assumed that there was a second encore, presumably including 'Bad Motorcycle' which seems to have been played at all shows during this period.

Comments: Support may have been Bong.

Friday 7 April 1995 - Monkey Club, Swindon

Set: unknown.

Comments: The Phantom Chords are known to have played a gig in Swindon at some stage, so it is presumed that this is the that show.

Comments: This set is taken from a bootleg recording, so the running order is correct. However, other shows at the time began with 'Voodoo Doll', so the recording is assumed to be incomplete and hence the information above only given as 'Set included'.

Friday 3 March 1995 - Dublin Castle, London

Set: Voodoo Doll, Screamin' Kid, Town Without Pity, Born To Be Wicked, This House Is Haunted, Chase The Wild Wind, Jezebel, Shadow of Love, After The Lights Go Out, Gunning For Love, Someone Up There, Pushin' Too Hard, Bad Motorcycle.

Friday 29 October 1993 - Roxy Theatre, Hollywood, California

Comments: The bootleg recording that this set is taken from begins part way through 'Piece Of My Heart' - this is thought likely to have been the opening number, but is unconfirmed. However, the same bootleg recording cuts out just as 'Fever' begins, so it it likely that another number (or other numbers) were played at the end of the set. There was no obvious encore break on the bootleg tape, however, the encore break is assumed to have been taken after 'Someone Up There' or 'Johnny Remember Me'.

Comments: Gig known to have taken place.

Wednesday 27 October 1993 - Portland, Oregon

Comments: Support advertised as Usher House, The Fall Outs and Bone Cellar. An article in the Seattle Times, dated Friday 22 October 1993, showed upcoming gigs for the coming week and the venues. It stated The Phantom Chords were playing on Tuesday 26 October at the Off Ramp (and confirms the other bands that were due to play the Off Ramp in the intervening days). A contributor to this site has confirmed that the show took place.

Wednesday 20 October 1993 - Reptile House, Grand Rapids, Michigan

Comments: Information obtained from Steff of The Phantom Chords states that this show was cancelled, bringing into question whether this set, taken from a supposed bootleg of the show, is actually the stated show. However, an individual stated on Facebook that he saw The Phantom Chords at Industry in 1993... bringing into question whether Steff's recollection of events is correct. In Barry Hutchinson's book about the band 'After The Lights Go Out: A Biography Of The Phantom Chords', the suggestion is that the unplanned King's Head (Norfolk, Virginia) show on the 16th, led to the cancellation of the show at Industry because the band couldn't travel back to Michigan in time - but this seems to make little sense, as the scheduled show for the 17th was at Masquerade (Atlanta, Georgia). That said, there is a quesion mark over the 'actual' date that the show scheduled for the 17th was played. A more likely interpretation of events is that the show on the 16th at The Kings Head (Norfolk, Virginia), led to a re-scheduling of the intended gig on the 17th at Masquerade (Atlanta, Georgia) to the 18th, and that the show on the 19th at Industry (Pontiac, Detroit, Michigan) went ahead as planned...?

Monday 17 October 1993 - Masquerade, Atlanta, Georgia

Set: unknown.

Comments: This date is taken from an original gig list belonging to Steff of The Phantom Chords, but when provided it was stated that some dates were cancelled or altered. There are some photos post-gig of this show on the web, stating 18 October, so which date is accurate is unclear - a flyer from the time does state 17 October. Advertised support was Usher House. See also comments for 19 October 1993 at Industry (Pontiac, Detroit, Michigan).

Comments: Support from Crawl Limbo. Advertising showed 'Proactive Management present Phantom Halloween Ball. On stage at the witching hour are Dave Vanian's Phantom Chords & Frat Shack DJ's. Dance with the devil 10:30 till 3am'. A show at Deals West is known to have been played by The Phantom Chords during the early '90s, and being as this is currently the only date known for a gig by the band at this venue, this is currently deemed more or less confirmation that this performance went ahead.

The same contributor wrote - "The audience was small but appreciative and half of them, including myself, were members of what was then called 'The Vampyre Society'."

Friday 17 January 1992 - The Venue, New Cross, London

Comments: Earls Of Suave are known to have supported at this show (they were mentioned during the bootleg recording that the above set is taken from). Gallon Drunk are known to have supported The Phantom Chords at a show at The Venue and this is believed to be that gig (though The Phantom Chords did play The Venue on a number of occasions... so it does remain possible that this was not the support slot they played). Therefore, for the moment, it is assumed that there were 2 support bands on the night.

Comments: Intended support was Five O'Clock World and Kurt.
