Captain Sensible: Solo & Beyond... (2010)

The list of shows for 2010 is believed to be complete (lists for some years are very much 'work in progress').

* Captain Sensible (band comprising Captain Sensible (guitar / vocals), Paul Gray (bass), Dave Berk (drums), Monty Oxymoron (keyboards), Hannah from Brighton (guitar / vocals)

Sunday 19 December - Dingwalls, London

Set: A Sporting Life, Love Policeman, Home, Martha The Mouth, It's Hard To Believe I'm Not, Life Up In The Stars, Brenda, Glad It's All Over, What D'ya Give The Man Who's Gotten Everything, Wot, Do Anything You Wanna Do, Happy Talk.

Comments: Support to The Glitter Band. Also on the bill - Bubble Gum Screw, SpiderBaby, Jona Lewie. Captain Sensible joined The Glitter Band on stage - he is known to have sung lead vocals on 'Leader of the Gang', and is presumed to have performed 'Do You Want To Touch' as with previous gigs.

Saturday 18 December - Academy 3, Manchester

Set included: One Christmas Catalogue, Happy Talk, Do Anything You Wanna Do.

Comments: Support to The Glitter Band. Also on the bill - Cranial Screwtop. Captain Sensible is known to have joined The Glitter Band on stage, so it is presumed that he sang lead vocals on 'Do You Want To Touch' and 'Leader of the Gang' as with previous gigs. Additionally, Dave Berk drummed for The Glitter Band because their drummer could not make the gig due to snow disruption.

Friday 17 December - Classic Grand, Glasgow

Comments: CANCELLED. Intended support to The Glitter Band. The show did not take place due to singer John Springate of The Glitter Band having a throat infection.

Thursday 16 December - Corporation, Sheffield

Comments: CANCELLED. Intended support to The Glitter Band. The show did not take place due to singer John Springate of The Glitter Band having a throat infection.

Wednesday 15 December - Inside Out, Darlington

Comments: CANCELLED. Intended support to The Glitter Band. The show did not take place due to singer John Springate of The Glitter Band having a throat infection.

Tuesday 14 December - Eddies Rock Club, Birmingham

Comments: CANCELLED. Intended support to The Glitter Band. The show did not take place due to singer John Springate of The Glitter Band having a throat infection.

Monday 13 December - Chinnerys, Southend

Set included: New Rose, Neat Neat Neat, Do Anything You Wanna Do, Gloria.

Comments: Intended support to The Glitter Band, but only Captain Sensible and band played due to singer John Springate of The Glitter Band having a throat infection. Captain wrote on his Facebook page "The Sensible band played a fun gig in Southend last night on our own (with Barry Masters guesting)". Apparently the Sensible band played for around 85 minutes, Barrie Masters of Eddie and the Hot Rods came on for the encore of 'Do Anything You Wanna Do' and 'Gloria' and then Captain did a couple of Glitter Band numbers.

Sunday 12 December - The Tunnel Club, Bristol

Set: A Sporting Life, Love Policeman, Home, It's Hard To Believe I'm Not, Life Up In The Stars, Brenda, Glad It's All Over, What D'ya Give The Man Who's Gotten Everything, Wot, Do Anything You Wanna Do, Happy Talk.

Comments: Support to The Glitter Band. It is assumed, but unconfirmed, that as with previous gigs the Captain joined The Glitter Band on stage to sing lead vocals on 'Do You Want To Touch' and 'Leader of the Gang'.

Saturday 11 December - The Clocktower, Croydon

Setlist: A Sporting Life, Love Policeman, Martha The Mouth, Hard To Believe I'm Not, Life Up In The Stars, Brenda, Glad It's All Over, What D'ya Give The Man Who's Gotten Everything, Wot, Home, Do Anything You Wanna Do, Happy Talk.

Comments: Support to The Glitter Band. Jona Lewie also advertised as supporting.

Comments: Intended show, supporting The Glitter Band, that was CANCELLED or REARRANGED.

Friday 10 December - Talking Heads, Southampton

Set: A Sporting Life, The Love Policeman, Martha The Mouth, Hard To Believe I'm Not, Brenda, Glad It's All Over, What D'ya Give The Man Who's Gotten Everything, Wot, Home, Do Anything You Wanna Do, Happy Talk.

Set: A Sporting Life, Love Policeman, Martha The Mouth, It's Hard To Believe I'm Not, Life Up In The Stars, Brenda, Glad It's All Over, One Christmas Catalogue, Wot, Do Anything You Wanna Do, Happy Talk.

Comments: Support to The Glitter Band. In addition to Captain Sensible's set, the Captain joined The Glitter Band on stage to sing lead vocals on 'Do You Want To Touch' and 'Leader of the Gang'.

* (with) Groundhogs

Friday 20 August - Twinwood Arena, Clapham, Bedford (Rhythm Festival)

Comments: Captain Sensible, attending the event with The Damned, jammed 'Cherry Red' with The Groundhogs.

* (as) Captain Sensible

Saturday 7 August - Ascot Racecourse

Set: included: Glad It's All Over, Wot, Happy Talk.

Comments: Here And Now tour. Captain Sensible fulfilled a commitment to play this event prior to going on to the Endorse It Festival, in Six Penny Handley, to play with The Damned. Only 3 numbers were played (and are thought to be as above - ie Captain Sensible is quoted as saying "I just played the 3 hits")... but the order is unknown. Others on the bill were - Belinda Carlisle, Midge Ure, The Christians, Johnny Hates Jazz, Cutting Crew, Boy George. It is believed that solo performers played with a 'house' band rather than their own musicians.

* (with) Dr Spacetoad & Friends

Sunday 7 February - Evening Star, Brighton

Set: unknown.

Comments: Free gig advertised as 'An Acoustic Audience With Dr Spacetoad & Friends'. Believed to have been limited participation from Captain Sensible during the evening, but known to have joined Dr Spacetoad for at least - 'My Old Mate The Coypu' and 'The Moon Is A Dandy'.

* (with) Spacetoad Experience

Saturday 6 February - The Brunswick, Brighton

Set: Time Machine, It's Not Unusual, Trying To Be Wierd, Tragic Nature, Carnival Town, Dorian Grey, Gone Too Far (This Time), Troubadour Of The 4th Dimension, Set The Controls, Dance Of The Toad.

Comments: Support from Trev and Kev.

Comments: Live recording made on the 5 February and actually broadcast on Radio Free Brighton on 6 February.
